1. Information We Collect

When you use Scribers, we collect information you provide directly:

  • Account information (email, name) via Google OAuth
  • Audio files you upload for transcription
  • Short dictation audio clips when cloud transcription is needed
  • Phone numbers you register for WhatsApp transcription
  • Usage data, transcription history, and optional dictation source-app attribution

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve our transcription services
  • Process your audio files using AI transcription
  • Send transcriptions via WhatsApp when requested
  • Track usage for billing purposes
  • Communicate service updates

3. Data Processing

Audio may be processed by OpenAI for transcription when on-device transcription is not available or when you upload a recording for cloud transcription. Source audio is stored only as needed to provide the service and is governed by your account retention setting: deleted shortly after transcription, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or never auto-delete. Transcripts are kept until you delete them or delete your account.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. We use secure cloud infrastructure provided by Vercel and self-hosted PostgreSQL infrastructure.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google OAuth for authentication
  • OpenAI for AI transcription and cleanup
  • WhatsApp/Meta for messaging
  • Polar.sh for payment processing
  • Vercel for hosting
  • Self-hosted PostgreSQL on Hetzner/Coolify for database storage

6. Your Rights

You can delete dictations and your account at any time. Dictation deletion scrubs the stored text, source audio URL, and source-app attribution while preserving a tombstone so synced devices learn the row was removed. Account deletion removes your account data and attempts to purge stored source audio. You can also export your transcription history from your dashboard.
